Unemployment Insurance Tax - Employer Registration Online

The Unemployment Insurance Employer Registration website allows employers to register, online, their new South Dakota business for unemployment insurance. Upon completion, employers receive a State Unemployment Tax Act (SUTA) account number, an unemployment insurance tax rate and, if they choose to do so, a personal identification number (PIN) to file quarterly wage reports online.

Important! You'll need the following information before beginning the Employer Internet Registration process:

• Federal Employer Identification Number, if obtained from IRS.
• Amount of wages paid to standard, agricultural, or domestic employees or corporate officers during the preceding and current year.
• Number of weeks employees worked for you during the preceding and current year.
• Social Security numbers, name, title and address of owner, partners, corporate officers or members of your business.
• State of incorporation, date of incorporation and name/address of your statutory agent (for corporations only).
• If you have acquired an existing business and are not acquiring the South Dakota unemployment insurance account, you may register online; however, if you are acquiring the South Dakota unemployment insurance account, you must complete the paper version of Form 1.
